I am not here to direct your life—I am here to help you inhabit it.

I’m Philip A. Bower, LICSW (he/him).

If you have arrived at this page, you might be asking who will actually be sitting across from you—and whether this space is somewhere you can show up without translating your reality or defending who you are.

Finding a therapist requires trust and discernment. My role is not to manage your choices, hand down diagnoses, or direct your life. It is to offer a steady, grounded presence so you can safely inhabit your own life on your terms.

Therapy as a collaborative partnership.

Many people enter therapy expecting to be evaluated, categorized, or told how to feel.

Our work together looks different. I view therapy as a thoughtful, human conversation between two equals. You remain the authority on your lived experience, while I bring clinical structure, active curiosity, and an unhurried pace.

You do not have to perform progress here, hide uncomfortable thoughts, or pretend to have everything figured out. We take the time necessary to understand what you are carrying—and how you want to move forward.

Let’s begin with what you know.

You do not need to have every clinical goal figured out before taking a first step.

By now, you may be wondering what sitting in therapy together actually feels like day to day. When you are ready, you can explore how our sessions are structured or reach out directly to inquire about availability.

Sessions are shaped around your rhythm, not a rigid template.

While my clinical foundation draws from evidence-based frameworks—including polyvagal-informed body awareness, acceptance and mindfulness, cognitive behavioral strategies, and trauma-informed care—we never force your experience into a pre-packaged box.

We move at a pace that feels regulating, collaborative, and grounded.
