Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) & Dialectical Behavioral (DBT) Lenses
Skill-Informed, Practical Telehealth for Adults in MA, ME, and WA
If you have an active, highly analytical mind, you probably spend a lot of time trying to "think your way out" of your feelings. You might analyze your anxiety, rationalize your grief, or criticize yourself for feeling overwhelmed. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) offer practical, everyday strategies to interrupt those exhausting mental loops, quiet your inner critic, and help your body tolerate intense emotional waves.
Balancing Change with Radical Self-Acceptance
In this practice, we do not treat CBT and DBT as rigid templates to fix "broken" thinking. Instead, we treat them as practical lenses to help you understand how your thoughts, physical sensations, and behaviors interact.
We work with a core dialectical truth: You can accept yourself exactly as you are right now, AND still actively work to change the patterns that are keeping you stuck.
Rather than gaslighting yourself into "positive thinking," we use these evidence-based frameworks to help you build real, lived self-trust.
How We Integrate These Lenses
In our individual virtual sessions, we customize these behavioral tools to fit your specific life context:
Dismantling the Inner Critic (The CBT Lens): Highly capable adults often live by a set of rigid, unwritten rules ("I must always perform perfectly," "If I show vulnerability, I am unsafe"). We work to identify these automatic cognitive loops, softening the internal pressure and rewriting the inherited blueprints that run your day.
Navigating Intense Emotional Waves (The DBT Lens): When your nervous system is pushed into high alert, logic alone isn’t enough. We draw from DBT's distress tolerance tools to help you ride out intense emotional spikes—like panic, anger, or deep shame—without falling back on old survival strategies that cause more pain.
Holding Opposing Truths (The Dialectical Lens): We practice seeing beyond "all-or-nothing" thinking. You can be deeply angry with someone and still love them. You can be terrified of a transition and completely ready for it. Embracing these complexities takes the pressure off your system.
Grounding in the Present (Mindfulness): We practice somatic, realistic mindfulness tools designed to pull your brain out of future-oriented worry or past-oriented regret, bringing your awareness back to the safety of the current moment.
Please Note: Authentic Arch Counseling offers skill-informed individual outpatient therapy. We do not provide comprehensive, manualized DBT programs (which typically require weekly group skills classes and 24/7 emergency phone coaching).
The Practical Framework: Scope, Fees & Access
We believe that professional therapy requires absolute transparency around logistics, fees, and boundaries. Clear, predictable structures build clinical self-trust and clarity, allowing us to focus entirely on your growth. Because Authentic Arch Counseling operates across multiple states and partner networks, your care parameters and billing options depend on how you access our practice.
Telehealth Focus: All sessions are conducted via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. You must be physically located in Massachusetts, Maine, or Washington at the exact time of your session.
Practice Scope: This is an outpatient practice for individual adults only. We do not provide child/adolescent therapy, couples counseling, family mediation, or emergency/crisis services.
Evaluations Policy: Our work is strictly clinical and therapeutic. We do not offer standalone psychological testing, forensic evaluations, or documentation for court proceedings, custody disputes, disability claims, FMLA leave, or third-party lifestyle assessments.
Direct Private Pay Rates: Initial Intake Assessment is $250. Standard Individual Sessions are $200 (53-minute duration).
Insurance & Funding Pathways: We do not accept or bill health insurance networks directly under the Authentic Arch practice name. However, you can utilize your standard in-network insurance benefits strictly when booking and billing through our approved outside platform partners, such as Tava Health. If you choose direct private pay but carry out-of-network benefits, we can provide a monthly clinical statement (a "Superbill") for potential partial reimbursement. We also coordinate with programs like Atreyu Therapy Cottage, Pineapple Support, and Tau Mental Health (Coming Fall 2026) to provide specialized access pathways for eligible individuals.
Coverage & Access Verification: Eligibility, documentation requirements, and actual out-of-pocket session fees vary significantly by platform, state, and your specific insurance policy. We cannot guarantee network coverage or immediate platform availability. It is always your responsibility to verify your out-of-network or platform benefits with your insurance carrier prior to requesting care.
Interrupt the Mental Loops
You do not have to keep fighting your own mind just to get through the day. Let's work together to build practical, grounded ways to restore your ease.
Administrative Notice: Submitting an inquiry via Cal.com is an administrative request to check scheduling availability and cross-state licensing compliance. It does not establish an active clinical relationship. A formal therapeutic contract is established only after clinical fit is mutually confirmed and your intake portal documentation is completed.
