Virtual therapy in Greater Boston, Massachusetts, Maine, and Washington.
Authentic Arch Counseling provides virtual outpatient therapy for adults in Greater Boston and across MA, ME, and WA.
Telehealth allows therapy to take place through secure video sessions instead of meeting in a physical office. This can make therapy more accessible, flexible, and private for adults in Greater Boston, across Massachusetts, and in Maine or Washington who prefer or need virtual care.
Because therapy is regulated by the state where you are physically located during the session, your location matters. To receive therapy through Authentic Arch Counseling, you must be physically located in Massachusetts, Maine, or Washington at the time of each appointment.
Where you need to be located for sessions
For virtual therapy, your physical location at the time of each session matters. Authentic Arch Counseling provides telehealth therapy only when you are physically located in a state where Philip A. Bower, LICSW is licensed to provide care.
Adults in Greater Boston and across Massachusetts may access virtual therapy when physically located in Massachusetts at the time of session.
Adults in Maine may access virtual therapy when physically located in Maine at the time of session.
Adults in Washington may access virtual therapy when physically located in Washington at the time of session.
If you are traveling, temporarily out of state, or unsure whether your location is eligible for telehealth, please ask before your appointment.
What you need for telehealth
Choose a private location where you can speak openly and feel reasonably comfortable for the length of the session.
A stable internet connection helps reduce disruptions and supports a smoother video session.
You will need a phone, tablet, or computer that can support secure video sessions.
If technology fails, we can discuss backup options such as reconnecting, switching devices, or using another appropriate method when available.
If privacy is difficult where you live, we can talk about practical options that may help make sessions feel more workable.
When telehealth may not be enough
Telehealth can be a meaningful and effective way to access therapy, but it is not the right level of care for every situation.
Immediate danger
If you are in immediate danger or may harm yourself or someone else, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
Higher level of care
Some situations may require a higher level of care, such as intensive outpatient treatment, partial hospitalization, inpatient care, substance use treatment, or local crisis services.
Crisis support needs
If you need urgent crisis support, call or text 988. Authentic Arch Counseling is not a crisis service and does not provide 24/7 support.
Privacy or safety concerns
If you cannot speak privately or safely during a session, telehealth may not be appropriate until a safer or more private option is available.
